Sounds of Hamilton is an archiving project that focuses on listening to the sounds and noise of the city I call home, and reflecting on its distinct audio ecologies. Collected field recordings highlight various areas across the city, and different recording devices were used for experimentation purposes. The shared soundscapes may give listeners insight into the diverse people, places and cultural activities that make up this city. As I collect them, more audio samples may be added over time. This site will share these sound works, making them accessible for anyone. This sound archive was created by Vanessa Crosbie Ramsay, a multidisciplinary artist and arts-educator.

This project was made possible by a grant from the City Enrichment Fund – Creation & Presentation Grant for Arts Professionals. Thanks to the City of Hamilton for the kind support!
